THE SOCIETY'S BOOK - SALISBURY IN DETAIL A very successful launch of "Salisbury in Detail" was held in the Gallery of Salisbury Library on 24th October with the Mayor of Salisbury present. Sir Terry Pratchett, who contributed the Foreword, signed copies of the book proffered by the 75 or so people present and an equal number of books were sold at the event. The success of the book has been extraordinary, so much so that we have exhausted the first print of 1,000 copies and have ordered a second print run of 800. Nine retail outlets in Salisbury are now stocking the book including the Cross Keys Bookshop, Waterstones, WH Smith, Sarum College, Salisbury Museum & the Cathedral Bookshop. Waitrose have also asked to stock it. The cover price of the reprint is £15.00. As of 18th May 2010 we have very little stock left of the 1,800 printed so far and have decided to print anoother 1,000 copies which should last for a reasonable period. An excellent review of the book has just been published in Cornerstone, the magazine of SPAB (The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) which has a membership of over 9,000. Although a number of members were responsible for producing the book Richard Deane was the driving force and wrote the text.
