AGM 2021: followed by a talk from Phil HardingWednesday 29th September 2021
The highlight of this year’s AGM will be a talk by Phil Harding currently a Fieldwork Archaeologist at Wessex Archaeology’s Salisbury office working on large scale excavation projects including Kingsmead Horton the Army Basing Programme work at Bulford.
Phil is probably best known for his regular appearances on Channel 4’s Time Team where he was one of the core group of archaeologists for many years. He began his career as a field archaeologist more than 50 years ago, working for Wessex Archaeology since 1979. He has written a number of academic publications relating to some of the most significant archaeological sites of the last fifty years and is an acknowledged expert on prehistoric flint-knapping which he enjoys demonstrating at public demonstrations, community events and classes, his aim is to help keep this skill alive for future generations and to pass on to them his passion and love for archaeology in the process. Phil is President of the Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC), Honorary President of the Defence Archaeology Group and was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.
All members are welcome at the AGM, providing an opportunity to meet with other members, to hear reports from the Committees on the achievements and work of Salisbury Civic over the past 18 months and to elect the Committee for the next year. Your presence at the AGM ensures the future of the Society. The AGM will be unable to elect the Trustees and Officers we need to operate the Society and to make important decisions unless at least 22 members of the Society are present and able to vote. For corporate member representatives to vote they must be authorised by their parent organisation in a written notice to the Society.
