Celebrating our Heritage Enhancing our Environment Shaping our Future

Visit to Norrington Manor

Thursday 22 August 2024

Norrington Manor, a Grade 1 listed building,  is a medieval manor house near Alvediston, about 11 miles southwest of Salisbury.

We will be given a guided tour of certain rooms by the owner, looking at the 15th century porch, the14th century hall, cross passage, and undercroft, and finishing with the 17th century solar.

The owner’s mother will also let us walk around her lovely garden.

This will be followed by an optional visit to the church of St Mary’s, Alvediston, where former prime minister Sir Anthony Eden is buried. Local author and historian Biddy Trahair will be on hand to talk about the wonderful history of the interior of the church.
