Salisbury Civic Society guided visits to the Cathedral High East Gable
Sept - Oct 2025The Civic Society is pleased to announce four scheduled guided tours to the High East Gable of Salisbury Cathedral, with a fifth offered in case the weather proves bad at an earlier date. The route of the visit will take people to parts of the Cathedral that are not normally open to the public, with slightly cramped access at times, including spiral staircases. It will include the Old Glaziers Shop in the Eastern roof space, which is far from the beaten track. The nature of the tour does not permit disabled access, for which we are sorry.
Under the direction of Gary Price, Cathedral Clerk of the Works who is to be our guide, the Cathedral won a 2024 Conservation award from the Society, and also an award from the Stone Federation, for restoration of the High East Gable as well as the North and South Pinnacles. The dates are:
Monday 15th September (6 places)
Tuesday 23 September (6 places)
Friday 26 September (6 places)
Thursday 9th October (6 places)
Tickets are available on Event Brite Visit Cathedral High East Gable
There might be an extra date Tuesday 21 October, in case of a cancellation
Meeting for all visits is 2pm at the Cathedral Main Entrance by the cloisters. Each tour should be over by 3.30pm
Cost £10. Much of this will be passed on to the Cathedral.
