Blue Plaque to Sir Cecil Beaton

The Society is unveiling a Plaque to Sir Cecil Beaton, photographer, designer and writer (1904-1980) at Reddish House, South Street,  Broadchalke SP5 5DH at 3pm on 28th May.

Sir Cecil Walter Hardy Beaton, CBE  (14 January 1904 – 18 January 1980) was a British fashion, portrait and war photographer, diarist, painter, and interior designer, as well as an Oscar–winning stage and costume designer for films and the theatre.  He bought Reddish House in 1947 and lived there until his death in 1980.  He is buried in All Saints Parish Graveyard.

Jason Brooks, renowned artist and owner of Reddish House and Hugo Vickers, writer and broadcaster, will be present to say a few words about Sir Cecil Beaton. Refreshments will be provided – hopefully in the gardens, weather permitting.

Car Parking:    All Saints Church carpark, off the causeway in Broadchalke – just a 5 min walk from Reddish House.  Very limited parking is available at Reddish House.  Please let Sara know when booking if you would like to utilise this.  Priority will be given for those with mobility issues, and requests may unfortunately have to be declined due to numbers.  Please do not park on South street.  This is a bus route and can cause problems.

Cost: Free to members but numbers are limited so please book early.
